Medical Imaging & Radiology On The Gold Coast
Mermaid Beach Radiology is a World-Class Medical Imaging Practice on the Gold Coast offering Australia’s first 3T QUANTITATIVE MRI & SPECTRAL CT in private practice. These revolutionary new technologies facilitate the early detection of disease with ultra low radiation dose and in the case of MRI, no radiation at all.
As the world’s first and only detector-based spectral technology, Philips IQon Elite SPECTRAL CT is the only dual-energy solution that provides layers of true spectral data, without compromise.
3T QUANTITATIVE MRI
3T QUANTITATIVE MRI is the most sophisticated imaging modality that has revolutionised modern radiology and is often considered to be the best “one stop shop” radiological scan for many applications.
Mermaid Beach Radiology offers the latest in digital imaging technology. Our sophisticated Digital Radiography unit replaces the standard X-Ray units delivering a lower radiation dose whilst simultaneously providing superior bone and soft tissue detail in a comfortable setting particularly geared towards children.
Ultrasound technology uses inaudible soundwaves to image soft tissue without the use of radiation. In recent years, ultrasound technology has undergone dramatic improvement and Mermaid Beach Radiology has proudly installed several of the top-of-the-line Philips EPIQ Elite premium ultrasounds to provide the most accurate imaging for our clients.
Interventional Radiology is the subspeciality that involves minimally invasive procedures such as organ biopsy, injections for pain relief or to treat a tendon injury.
Imaging equipment such as our CT or Ultrasound are used to safely and accurately guide the needle into the appropriate location. Our Radiologist Dr. Zane Sherif specialises in interventional radiology and is passionate about achieving the best medical outcome for his clients.
Cone Beam CT
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of x-ray machine that provides the highest resolution (735% higher resolution than conventional CT) of 2D and 3D examinations, ideal for diagnoses concerning either complete or partial dentition, single dental arches and all maxillofacial regions. CBCT is used in situations where regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient or as a lower radiation dose alternative to regular CT scans of the head and face are preferred (e.g. for children). Mermaid Beach Radiology’s Newtom Giano-HR 3D CBCT gives approximately 92% lower radiation dose compared to a conventional CT scan of the head.
